⛪ About Our “Little Chapel in the Woods”
At the end of a charming cobbled brick lane, the Fred Bartholme Memorial Chapel—affectionately known as the “Little Chapel in the Woods”—offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for weddings, vow renewals, memorial services, family gatherings, and monthly prayer services.
Built in 2021 by John Bartholme in honor of his late father, the chapel was crafted by a skilled Amish family and features a beautifully rustic interior. Hand-hewn ceiling beams and white pine benches provide seating for up to 50 guests, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Step outside onto the wooden wraparound observation deck and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding valley—an unforgettable backdrop for any occasion.
The “Little Chapel in the Woods” has quickly become a beloved local landmark, recognized as one of the top overlooks in north central Pennsylvania by PA Great Outdoors magazine and featured as a “must-see” destination on PABucketList.com. Visitors travel from near and far to experience its beauty, along with the nearby historic cemetery and wooden cross.
2026 Chapel Services
Our chapel services are non-denominational and open to all. Guests are invited to join us for a welcoming morning of fellowship and reflection in the peaceful setting of the Little Chapel in the Woods.
Fellowship: Coffee and donuts served at 9:30 AM
Service Begins: 10:00 AM

“Little Chapel in the Woods”
Medix Run Lodges offers this beautiful and intimate chapel for special events such as small weddings, vow renewals, and memorial services. To preserve the peaceful atmosphere and natural surroundings, we kindly ask all guests to follow the guidelines below.
Rental Guidelines
- Maximum event duration: 3 hours
- Attendance limited to fewer than 50 guests
- Events must remain within the chapel grounds and cemetery area
- No alcohol permitted
- No loud music allowed
- All cleanup and garbage disposal are the responsibility of the renter
- A signed Rule Consent and Liability Waiver Form is required
Rental Fee
A non-refundable donation of $250 is required to reserve the chapel.
