"Fred Bartholme Memorial Chapel" aka "The Little Chapel in the Woods"
ABOUT OUR "LITTLE CHAPEL IN THE WOODS"
At the end of a cobbled brick lane, the Fred Bartholme Memorial Chapel, or as it’s become known in the area, “Little Chapel in the Woods,” is ideal for weddings, vow renewals, memorial services, family gatherings and monthly prayer services.
John Bartholme erected the charming steepled chapel in 2021 to honor his dear father, who passed away in 2020. Built by an Amish family, the rustic interior features hand-hewn beams in the ceiling and white pine benches with seating for up to 50 people. The wooden wraparound observation deck overlooks a truly breathtaking valley panorama.
Not surprisingly, the “Little Chapel” has drawn attention near and far. It’s been voted into the top 10 overlooks in north central Pennsylvania by PA Great Outdoors magazine and named a “must see” on PABucketList.com. More than 100 people each day visit the picturesque building, and nearby historic cemetery and wooden cross.
RENT THE FRED BARTHOLME MEMORIAL CHAPEL - "LITTLE CHAPEL IN THE WOODS"
Medix Run Lodges is now renting this beautiful chapel on their grounds, for special events (i.e. small weddings, renewal of vows, memorial services). We ask that you follow the following guidelines:
- Three hour maximum timeframe
- Less than 50 people in attendance
- Limited to the immediate grounds of the chapel and cemetery
- No alcohol served
- No loud music
- All clean up and garbage disposal is responsibility of renter
- Rule Consent and Liability Waiver form signature required
RENTAL FEE: $250.00 a non-refundable donation of $250 for rental
- PA System provided
- Benches and chairs provided
- Outhouse on grounds

2026 Chapel Services
The Chapel Services are open to all and non-denominational. There is a coffee and donut fellowship on the deck at 9:30 a.m. and the service begins at 10:00 a.m.
We are excited to put our 2026 Chapel service schedule out to the public. We are fortunate to have Mr. Brad Clinton facilitating the services and have tried to get at least once a month during our season. As you might know, the services are non-denominational and open to all, and we have donuts and coffee at 9:30 a.m.-10 a.m. and the service starts at 10 a.m.
